My work stirs up nostalgia, beauty, and a sense of poetry to the everyday. The images often take on a romantic and feminine tone. For the past few years I have shot in all analog. Analog helps me express the imperfect nature of life and it’s beauty. Wabi Sabi. I am deeply inspired by spirituality, nature, painting and fairytales. My connection to mother nature is my deepest inspiration. Director Terrence Malick has also pulled me in to his cinematic world blending philosophical and spiritual ideas in to movement and art. The poetry of Mary Oliver goes straight to my soul. My eyes feel her words. For 20 years I have photographed families, brands, artisits, farms and celebrations. The beauty of the natural world is always infused in to my imagery.

Monika has a BFA from San Francisco State and has worked in Denmark , France, Spain and is currently based out of her hometown in Northern California. She lives with her 3 kids and husband.
